Welcome to our Farm!Poppyfield Farm breeds just a few quality Connemaras and Connemara halfbreds a year. We strive to meet the needs of the smaller rider who does not wish to sacrifice talent, movement, and jumping ability. Connemaras are known for their soundness of mind, body, and desire to be willing partners. We are located about an hour east of Atlanta in the heart of the rural south. The farm is the original homestead of Moina Michael, known as the "Poppy Lady". Moina Michael began the tradition of giving crepe paper poppies worn on the lapel for a donation to the war effort during WWI. Ms. Michael is buried in the historic Monroe cemetery, but her parents rest peacefully near our front pasture. Visitors are always welcome. Come and meet the ponies, take a walk in the woods and have a seat at the stone table. Homegrown organic produce, good fellowship, and a decent bottle of wine are common fare. This website is currently under construction. There will be more to come when Ken gets time to help the matron of the farm (Kim, the horsewoman) build the website.
